Last Minute Shopping in Rye, N.Y.- My Favorite Stores
I’m not sure about you, but the holidays seem to have sprung up on me this year, and I am scrambling for some last minute (recession priced?) gifts. I thought I would share some of my favorite places in town to shop.
Purchase Street in Rye has some great shops that I visit time and again. For a special gift, visit Woodrow Jewelers, a longtime family business that specializes in quality jewelry with a focus on service. Blush Beauty Bar, Oliviers or Wish are three great stores for hostess gifts for Holiday parties as well as fun treats for yourself (great candles at Blush!) Although not located on Purchase Street, Rye Beach Pharmacy at 464 Forest Avenue is so much more than a pharmacy and a great source for holiday gifts- Charlotte and all the lovely ladies behind the counter are more than happy to

help you choose the perfect present, and will beautifully wrap it to boot! Parkers Travel Store is one of my longtime favorites- I was just in there yesterday. Catherine Parker has a great selection of travel books, clothing, luggage and backpacks,as well as an assortment of interesting gifts for the family like Table Topics, one of my favorites. Speaking of books, you’ll find an interesting collection of current titles and local favorites at Arcade Booksellers at the end of the street near the Village Green. Looking for clothing? Well, right along with Victoria’s Secret, you’ll find local favorites Great Stuff, Rags, Shoe’s and More. I grew up with Missy at “Shoes” and have been visiting Rags for years, since the days when the owner’s Golden Retriever was there and slept in the middle of the floor (it always made it easy to shop there when my kids were little, as we went to “visit the (very patient) dog”! And don’t forget to visit my friend Renee Drummond and experience the great energy at Rhythm in Rye Too, a high end consignment shop across from my office ,where I recently purchased some really great things.
There is a local Kohls, Modells, and other chains, but if you are looking for something special and would like some individualized attention, come see our local merchants.
